Okay guys this might sound like a pansy journal but it actually is relatively important. At least to me it is. Well it isn't a journal. No one reads those amirite?
Anyway, I recently read a thign (purposeful misspell) about Homestuck. NOWWAITDONTSTOPREADING
Because this isn't for you people who actually read it
But more for the people... Who don't.
So, as I read the thign, I came to realize that Homestuck ISN'T about four kids who play a game, or defeating evil, or the character's adventures, or even really about itself. I realize that last one didn't make a whole lot of sense, but it should if you read the rest of this. Hooked? No? What if I told you that Homestuck was instead about courage, fear, love, life, death, and most importantly... Homestuck was about YOU? That's right. Homestuck isn't about Homestuck. Homestuck is about you. It's about your life, your actions, and your purpose.
People who read it should be familiar with the aspect/class God Tier thing. For those of you who aren't, long story short characters can become Gods in a way and when they are they have a class and an aspect. Examples of class/aspect are Witch of Space, Thief of Light, Mage of Doom, Heir of Breath, and Rogue of Heart.
These may just sound like some cool titles for Gods but really they're not. Each aspect represents challenges and strengths, and each aspect has an opposite. And all of these aspects are basically telling is we should strive to achieve these qualities. Homestuck isn't an adventure. It's a life lesson. Life, our first aspect, represents optimism, while the opposite, Doom, represents pessimism, and both fall under "energy to influence". It shows that how you act is highly influential. Next up is Breath, the aspect of quests, direction, and freedom. This is an important aspect to have the traits of, but as is the counterpart: Blood. Blood represents unity, bond, relationship, promises and responsibility. These two opposing aspects fall under paths and passion. Next up are Void and Light. Void is the aspect of nothingness, irrelevance, destruction of information, and submission, while the counterpart of Light stands for fortune, information, relevance, and importance. That's why people say we all have little bits of light in us! We ALL have IMPORTANCE. Void and Light are under knowing and perceiving, possibly the most important aspects when it comes to real life. Next up is Heart vs Mind. Personal inclination vs logic and reaction. These two are in an individual's impact as soul and choice. Both are important to have! Then there are Hope (belief) and Rage (resignation) under faith in possibility. Lastly are Space and Time, the governing aspects. Space represents fabric, while Time stands for progression.
But how does this have relevance?
Your aspect is what you are the "hero" of. Yes the hero. Dave and Terezi once had a conversation somewhere in A5A2. I'll censor out the spoilers here though.
TG: im not a hero
TG: (spoiler, sorry!)
TG: john is
TG: im not
GC: Y3S YOU 4R3!
GC: Y3S, W3 4LL 4R3
GC: 1 4M TH3 H3RO OF M1ND
GC: YOU 4R3 TH3 H3RO OF T1M3
GC: TH4T 1S WHO W3 W3R3 CR34T3D TO B3
(Terezi, by comparison, actually seems to be one of the wisest characters of all of them.)
The point here is, they're ALL HEROES!
NANNASPRITE: Yes, they have dueled in this manner forever… that is, until you showed up!
That they are IMPORTANT.
AG: The choices you make affect the destiny of the universe you cre8te, as well as the type of hero you 8ecome.
That their CHOICES MATTER.
And Homestuck can be applied to ALL OF US. Here! Reading this! Every single one of us has some of all the Aspects in us, so doesn't that make us all heroes? Don't our choices all matter? Not so sure about if what Nannasprite said specifically applies to real life, but we are ALL IMPORTANT!
That's the message Homestuck has been trying to push to us (albeit sometimes subliminally) this entire time!
So maybe you want to give it a shot this time? Make it past Act 2 for once for God Tier sake.
And start learning the lessons that Homestuck has to offer about life and most importantly about YOU! ;3
Because Nannaquin called it "the Ultimate Riddle" for a reason. When you think the ultimate riddle... You think of the meaning of life! At least I do.
Homestuck really is beautiful. It's not only telling you who the characters are, or how to find who the characters are. It's telling you who you are, what life is, and how to find yourself.
